Vision Question
Lately, I’ve been thinking about Lasik eye surgery. I’m tired of wearing contacts and/or glasses.
Anyone have this procedure done, or know anyone who has?

unfortunately, i know about 2 ppl who had it done
but both have permanent damage to their eyes now
one of them accidentally moved their eye a tiny bit during the procedure
and the other, i think had a bad doctor
i know 5 people (including my sister, uncle and cousin), and all are glad they did it. just make sure you go to a reputable eye surgeon and ask them for their ‘success’ rate.
I know a lot of people. Results are varied – one guy who went to a well-rated surgeon in Dallas got his eye scratched (not a cheap deal either). My aunt who got hers done in Taiwan was very pleased with her results.
There was someone else that told me they’re waiting for a new technology to come out where the surgery is not permanent, and not as dangerous. I don’t know what’s the deal with that. If you find out, be sure to post it.
Well Enterprise is the flagship of the fleet that’s why they have such comfortable chairs. Buy Voyager had some pretty cool stuff too. I just watched an episode where the doctor gets sent back to the Alpha quadrant to a prototype ship that splits up into 3 parts. Pretty cool.
I had it done in July with excellent results. Aloha Laser Center or Dr. Portis. I had mine done by Dr. Portis using Aloha Laser Center’s Laser. Very cool. They have the latest laser using allegretto wave eye-mapping technology, where the machine maps your entire eye and the laser follows any movement you make. Took less than 15 minutes and they give you a teddy bear to hold during the surgery. I could see the clock on the wall through my tears just seconds after we were done. I am very happy that I did it and my quality of life is so much better! I had such bad vision & astigmatisms before, that I couldn’t even see the big E during my vision tests.
Dr. Portis is excellent and he does 3-4 surgeries a week. His practice is at Queens. I chose him over the Dr. at Aloha laser because I think he has better post-surgery therapies for faster recovery and tear production. If you do choose to do the surgery, take vitamin C, 500 mill 2x a day for a month before. I’ve read that it helps with haloing at night and my night vision is pretty good now, barely any halos.
Let me know if you want more info/advice.
It’s pretty cool that you’re contemplating getting surgery where the main instrument is a laser and they’re pointing it into your eye. Who’d a thought? Glad my vision’s good. No glasses or contacts.
It was 4 years ago today that I stumbled up on your page…http://www.xanga.com/avidevi/44491126/item.html

i won’t do it, but i know ppl who have had it done and love it. we talk about it here all the time bc someone can’t find his glasses 50% of the time- but i think he’s waiting.
